Opening Night Gala
This is your chance to make a personal connection with our international guests and welcome them with the warmth and enthusiasm that Alaskans are known for. And if you're a filmmaker voyaging to our beautiful northern city, this is a chance to start your adventure with celebration and recognition of your talent and dedication to the art of independent film. Tickets are $15 or free entry with ALL EVENTS PASS.

Golden Oosikar Awards Ceremony
The culmination of the AIFF is the Golden Oosikar Awards Ceremony. The diverse competition juries, comprised of individuals from our community with original and objective points of view, select films to receive our honorary awards. It's our chance to recognize the best AIFF filmmakers for their commitment to the art of filmmmaking and supporting the Festival by sharing their vibrant visions with the film lovers of Alaska. The audience will also participate in screening and judging the the 3 finalists in the Animation and Super Short program, and help decide the winning films. Tickets are $15 or free entry with ALL EVENT PASS.

Martini Matinee
Come in from the cold and join the fun! It's our short attention span cinema for the fabulous cosmo film crowd! These films are not the usual mix. A movie trivia contest with some great prizes will be part of the evening's festivities. Tickets are $10 or free entry with ALL EVENT PASS.

International Filmmaker Forum
If you're not too blurry eyed from the prior night's Gala activities, join us for an up-close and personal wake-up call with our international filmmakers and industry guests. This is one of the few chances to meet the filmmakers and staff of the AIFF. All filmmakers are encouraged to join the mix. It's your chance to tout your film and tell us a bit about yourself and your latest projects. Free to all, pass holders have priority.

Screenplay Workshop in a Nutshell
If you're curious about finding success in the movie business, this workshop is for you. Please join us for an afternoon of candid screenplay conversation with Don J. Rearden. The AIFF is proud to present homegrown talent! Don grew up on the tundra of Southwestern Alaska. Currently a professor at our local University, Don has written 3 independently produced films, won several writing awards, and plans to one day have one of his screenplays produced and filmed in Alaska. Don's works include the feature films: Clawed the Legend of Sasquatch, Jack Kain, and Skid Marks, as well as a novel Permafrost Heart, and the short film The Mermaids Singing. Free to all, pass holders have priority.

Ship Creek

The Vault at Ship Creek Center
All AIFF Pass Holders have special access to our 2007 library located in The Vault at Ship Creek Center (West end upper floor). This is the same area used for our Filmmaker Forums and is also the main headquarters for the Festival during its 10-day run. Pass holders are allowed to bring guests to this special area and screen films from DVD on our big screen TVs. There is also computer access and free refreshments. Open 10am to 8pm on weekends and 5pm to 8pm on weekdays.
