Opening Night Gala
Join us for the opening night film and gala party at the Bear Tooth TheatrePub. We will start the evening with a screening of the short film “Day in Our Bay” and honoring indigenous filmmakers of Northern cultures. This celebration will be follwed by the dramatic feature film “Inuk” directed by Mike Magidson. Following the film and Q&A, mingle with visiting filmmakers at the Opening Night Gala. Make a personal connection with our international guests and welcome them with warmth and enthusiasm. We’ll introduce our behind the scenes staff, enlighten you on what to expect for the next ten days, and keep the food and music rolling until midnight.
Tickets are $20, or $10 with ALL FILMS PASS.
11th AIFF Celebration
Hang out with filmmakers and film fans from all over the city and world as we kick off the first weekend of the festival.

Canadian Consulate Filmmaker Reception
Join the Canadian Consulate of Anchorage and AIFF as we celebrate our partnership with our neighbors south of the border. After the screening of the Canadian feature film “Moon Point” by Sean Cisterna, enjoy a Canadian Wine and Cheese tasting while hanging out with filmmakers from Canada and around the globe.
Attendees from “Moon Point” screening will be invited to stay for the reception and the shorts, but those wanting to come to just the reception and the shorts may be admitted by an $8 ticket or AIFF pass.
Gay-La After Party
This year’s Gay-La program honors the American drama “An Ordinary Family“. See the feature film section of the guide for film information. After the movie and Q&A with the filmmaker please join AIFF and head to Mad Myrna’s for drinks and food and mingling with the filmmaker.

Golden Oosikar Awards
Please join the celebration! Our awards gala is our opportunity honor the outstanding films and show our appreciation to all of the filmmakers that have contributed their wonderful work to the 2011 AIFF. Enjoy live music and delectable food as this year’s top filmmakers collect their Golden Oosiks. This is a great chance to make that last connection with many of the visiting filmmakers. And for all the staff and volunteers of the festival come together and congratulate each other for another year of success!
