The Inlet Tower offers visiting filmmakers a discount rate. You may book reservations on the hotel’s website. Navigate to the reservations link and click “corporate reservations” at the bottom of the page, then type in the AIFF discount code. (The 2016 discount code will be published when we get closer to the festival dates.) If you have any trouble at all, or would like to speak to a person, call the toll-free reservation line at 800-544-0786 and mention AFF. The Inlet Towers is conveniently located to most of the AIFF venues and hosts a few Festival events.

Filmmaker Hospitality Suite

Located at the Inlet Tower Hotel and Suites. The suite will be open 11am-7pm beginning Dec. 2nd through the first weekend of the festival, 3pm-7pm during the week, then 11am-7pm for the final weekend. If you are a filmmaker or a special guest, this is where you will go to pick up your hospitality bag and festival credentials. Please inquire at the hotel front desk for the suite location. This suite is only available for filmmakers, talent, media, special guests and AIFF volunteers and staff.

Copper Whale Inn

Located right in Downtown, the Copper Whale also offers discounted lodging for filmmakers, with complimentary breakfast. Some rooms accommodate a third person. Use code AIFF 2016 when you book online at www.copperwhale.com or by calling 1-866-258-7999.

Aviator Hotel

Conveniently located near downtown venues (right across from the Alaska Experience Theatre and  two blocks from the Anchorage Museum), the Aviator Hotel is a new venue with a lot of character! Special Rates for Festival Attendees! Just quote AIFF 16 907-793-5555

Festival Dates To Plan Around

Obviously, you are coming to represent your film. While the online schedule won’t be available until early November, the schedule will be set near the end of October. After that date, please contact Program Director, Katie Miller, to verify the days that your film will screen.

Opening Night Gala at the Bear Tooth Theatrepub on Friday, December 2nd is our biggest event. We start with a screening of the opening night film at 7:30 PM followed by the gala party from 9:30 until midnight.

The Golden Oosikar Awards Gala will be held on Sunday, December 11th.

What To Expect

One of the things Alaskans take pride in is showing guests a good time.  Along with the many festival events, we do our best to offer all visiting filmmakers a chance to get outside of town to see the real Alaska. And you won’t have to travel far! A list of excursions will be inside your hospitality packets that are located at the Festival’s Hospitality Suite in the Inlet Towers.

Upon arrival, we can pick you up at the airport, even if you’re flying red-eye.  Just let us know your itinerary 48 hours in advance and we’ll be there to greet you at baggage claim.  We’ll also drop you off at the airport upon departure. The airport is about 5 miles from the action and the Inlet Tower provides shuttle service.  Don’t forget, you’ll want to give them a heads up if you’re arriving in the wee hours of the morning. Taxi ride is about $20, or you can rent a car from our sponsor Avis Alaska.

As for the venues, all are either in the downtown or midtown areas of Anchorage. Renting a car can be helpful, though not necessary. If you like to get out and stretch your legs there’s a great trail system a block from the hotel and almost everything is within 1 or 2 miles. We will also have a shuttle van available from our main hotel.
